Have you ever wondered why a sister and brother have the same nickname, "Dud"? Hilda said that when her brother, Donald, was young he pronounced Hilda as "Dud" so she became known as Dud and Donald became "Little Dud".
1932 L to R Bald man in back may be Ephraim Lamora, in front of him Hilda Bullis, Dawn Bullis in very front; Back next to Ephraim Lydia Carter and next to her Bernard Bullis, in front of him Rose Carter, very front, Donald Bullis, Back row next to Bernard is Albina Bullis and in front of her is Conrad Bullis
I had heard that my father, who worked for NYSEG, was transferred to Chatham from Plattsburgh because, his father-in-law, Bernard V Bullis who was the General Line Foreman for NYSEG, didn't want to be responsible for losing another family member. I never knew who or how we were related to that family member or how we were related to Shirley Bullis (Harris) who came to The Farm, from the midwest and my mother, Hilda, was very excited to see. It all came together for me when I found these two pictures and started doing the research. Harold married Phoebe (Lovely or Lovel) in 1925 in Detroit and they had a daughter Shirley. The 1930 census said Harold, Phoebe and Shirley lived with Bernard. In 1931 Harold was a lineman for NYSEG. In 1933 Phoebe had a son, William "Billie" and Harold died from an accident at work. Phoebe remarried Albert S. Lucas in 1936, Lucas also worked for NYSEG but eventually the whole family moved back to Michigan where Shirley raised her family.
